Pretty good catering for an office event. Some of the pizzas' cheese wasn't cut all the way through which got messy, but otherwise yummy pizza.
From Brazil to North Beach! I have lived in North Beach, San Francisco, for over twenty-five years. During my early years here, I discovered North Beach Pizza and became a loyal customer at its original location. Their pizza was one of the closest ones to New York pizza, and I loved and enjoyed it during my years there. So it came as a surprise to me when I realized I had never reviewed them on Yelp! Before starting to write this review, I researched their history online. What I learned surprised me because I assumed the owners were Italian or Italian Americans all these years, and I was wrong! Al Souza, a Brazilian immigrant, launched his restaurant career in 1976 with a San Francisco pizza shop called California Pizza. Though he held a computer science degree from the University of San Francisco, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to the restaurant industry. After honing his management skills at Church's Fried Chicken and Wendy's, he set his sights on a new venture. In 1982, Souza opened the first North Beach Pizza on Grant Avenue, San Francisco. This innovative concept offered a value-oriented menu with fast and reliable computerized delivery, a system he developed. The success was immediate, attracting hundreds of businesses throughout the city. Capitalizing on this momentum, Souza opened a second location nearby in 1986. Today, North Beach Pizza boasts a growing empire with multiple San Francisco locations, including one under construction on Pier 39 and further expansion into Berkeley and San Mateo. Beyond building a restaurant empire, Souza is a recognized leader within the Bay Area's Brazilian community. He's known for mentoring former employees and fellow Brazilians, helping them launch successful businesses. We ordered a medium pie, half Aloha and half Meat Lovers, to take out during our last visit. We called and placed the order, and when we got there, it was ready and waiting for us. The Aloha comes with Canadian Bacon, Ham, and Pineapple. Meat Lovers is topped with sausage, salami, pepperoni, Canadian Bacon, and meatballs. We asked for the crust to be extra crusty, and it was. I wouldn't say I like sweet pizzas, but the Aloha tasted good. On the other hand, Meat Lovers is filling and delivers lots of flavors. One of the things I like about this North Beach Pizza location is the smiling and friendly staff. The dining area is charming, too. It is roomy and well-set up. We last ate there a while ago, but we will soon.
Nicest customer service if i could give more stars i would pizza was amazing too i definitely will come back they have a slice side and restaurant side
came here for small snack and play cards with a friend. We gotten a little bit hungry and then we saw the dessert menu, they have dessert pizza! So my friend and I said can we have half choco and half banana because we want to try both at the same time. I went over to the front counter and ask the server to proposed half chocolate and half banana. they instantly said yes! Which a surprise for me! The pizza came and omg goodness it taste so good! specially, the chocolate with some hot pepper and cheese, the combination it's so good! Totally recommend the dessert pizza, if you are in a sweet treats!
Very friendly staff, food is super yummy!!! The pizza is superb!! Very good lasagna, also Bathrooms are super clean.
North Beach pizza is the best pizza in town hands down! I was walking down on Grant Ave looking for a place to eat. Immediately this cute girl at the front caught my attention so I decided to walk in. We talked for a bit and go figure she's the new manager at this store! I decided to get a quick slice of the Margarita Pizza after she convinced me that I wouldn't be disappointed. After seeing all the crazy hyped up tourists line up for Tony's I can say they are definitely missing out on a hidden gem of San Francisco. I finally got try them and I was not disappointed. Excellent customer service, good quality food and ingredients and excellent location. I will definitely be back and ready to try more of their unique pizza combinations.
We frequent this place often since we live in the neighborhood. The atmosphere great for kids lots of seating inside. The staff are very friendly and considerate. It too big of a fan of their pizza besides the margarita pizza did myself and my husband likes the north beach special. We usually prefer to order their entrees better like the chicken parmesan, chicken marsala, fettuccine carbonara, chicken wings appetizer, beer battered onion rings and calamari are also pretty tasty.
If your tired of Tony's crowds you will love this place. Just one block away from the overrated madness. Be sure and give this place a look. A pleasant place to sit indoors and enjoy your pizza slice. Often that isn't the case with the low price typically 'to go' by the slice places... There is a counter and bar stools that overlook the street and two cozy nooks on either side of the entrance. Super friendly place. They go above and beyond in terms of service. On one side there is the formal restaurant and on the other the slice house. Either way you will be pleasantly surprised with the ambiance and people working here. This is my favorite neighborhood in SF and I'm on my mission as always to find the best pizza in the city. This pizza has a thicker crust and the bread has a good flavor to it. I had lots of fresh basil and the vegetable pizza toppings added a freshness. I do prefer my crust to have lots of air bubbles that become blackened in the oven. Also I tend to prefer a crust that is a little thinner - that is the trend these days. Nothing was bad - just not my preferred style. I'm not a big fan of having pizza delivered. Always a good idea to come in yourself and eat it on the spot. Even the slices that are premade are incredible on the spot out of the oven from getting re-heated. Overall an excellent choice for late night pizza.
I'm sitting here and I'm saddened so far.. we came for the pitchers of beer but the tap is down so it's not available.. and they are out of Heineken by the bottle... we showed our free garlic bread Yelp check in reward and was told it's nonsense and that they don't honor those any more. The manager/owner told my server that Yelp makes those things up and they have turned away two other people recently who tried to use it. ??? The service was friendly enough but she had to deliver so many 'no I'm sorry we don't and sorry we can't' messages it takes away from that. I actually feel bad for her- girls trying to make money and that's gotta hurt The pizza however was really pretty darned good. Crispy crust. Hot out of the oven. Nice combination. Toppings Not overwhelming the slices. Good ratio of toppings to crust. The creamy garlic sauce was good. Solid pizza performance for sure. We had 'fancy pizza' at a restaurant down the street a couple of days ago and today just just wanted real good pizza. Nothing fancy. This fit the bill. Just real good pizza. I'd recommend. Side note: the music easy listening remake of pop and 80's songs. I was singing along to songs wondering how I new the words when I had never heard the song before. Loved that. We had a lot of fun trying to identify the songs in their new remade versions.
